I knew I needed some extra tuition for my daughter as she came up to her Science GCSEs this summer because once the mocks were over last Christmas, I realised that she lacked confidence, especially in Chemistry and Physics. I contacted Clare and it was really easy to set up some Skype sessions that suited Lily’s school timetable and other commitments. Clare was really flexible and worked around any tests or Explorers events that came up along the way.
Clare started teaching Lily after Christmas and every Thursday at 4 pm Lily just logged on and there was Clare for a full 60 minutes of one to one attention. With the best will in the world, a teacher can only give your child a couple of minutes each lesson as there are 29 others in the class, so this one to one was vital for Lily in building her confidence and allowing her the space and time to ask the questions she wasn’t sure about, and to go through tricky topics like atomic structure and chemical reaction rates.
I found that Lily’s mood lifted after sessions with Clare, and her confidence improved in leaps and bounds. She was feeling happier about facing her GCSEs and I felt she had learned stuff properly instead of half understanding it in the classroom at school, and then lacking the confidence to ask the teacher.
It was well worthwhile employing Clare because she is warm, friendly and approachable and will make even the shyest student feel at ease. She is a brilliant teacher who gives excellent pastoral and scientific support. Research shows that confident pupils do better in exams and I am sure that Clare has made a positive difference to Lily. Lily said she was sad when she had her last session with Clare and I think that really does say it all.

Having had some trouble with multiple teacher changes and substitute teaches for the first half of year 12, I found myself falling behind both in performance and confidence in my Chemistry A level. It was at this point my parents reached out to Clare, asking for help…
There are two things that make Clare stand out above all other teachers/ tutors I have worked with throughout my A levels. The first is her patience; It is very easy to stand in front of a whiteboard and talk at a student, expecting them to make notes and ‘figure it out’. It is much harder to engage with a person one-on-one, and spend weeks finding the specific way of explaining a problem to someone, such that they really understand the solution. This is something that Clare does exceptionally, and it is a joy to know you have overcome a hard topic.
The second, and arguably most important, thing about Clare is her pure enthusiasm for Chemistry; You can tell by the way she speaks and the excitement in her voice that she really enjoys the subject, and it is impossible for some of that enthusiasm to not rub off on you. As someone who found himself really not enjoying lessons, and feeling very out of his depth, it really helped to feel safe to ask questions, and build a strong base of knowledge through that.
Within a few weeks of working with Clare, not only did I find myself more confident in Chemistry, but also saw a clear and consistent improvement in my results. I have recently completed my A level exams, and really feel that I could not have come out of each Chemistry paper with a smile on my face without Clare.
I wish Clare all the best in her future, and cannot recommend her enough to anyone studying Chemistry at A level, or GCSE. She is truly an inspiration.

Having known Clare since school, I already knew what a lovely, caring and passionate person she was. Fast forward a few years and it was time for my daughter to go into year 6. Georgia had always suffered with a lack of confidence and struggled with Maths. Due to a long illness meaning time off school, issues with teachers and the old confidence issue, she went into year 6 very dismayed.
I decided she needed something extra to help her with her SATS and when it came to a tutor there was only one person I wanted and that was Clare, even though she already had a pretty full diary she still managed to squeeze us in.
From the day Georgia met Clare I knew I’d made the right decision, after 10 minutes I heard giggling from downstairs and knew she was in safe hands. Clare happily worked around our schedule starting off with a session every other week and going to every week the closer we got. She even came the Saturday morning before her tests started (that’s dedication). She gave Georgia her mobile number so she could text her between sessions if there was something she didn’t understand or even just for a chat.
She was patient and kind with Georgia, encouraging her and building up her confidence every time she saw her. Georgia walked into her exams believing she could and that was all thanks to Clare.
It was a nervous day waiting for the results, at the start of the year her teachers prepared me for the fact she probably wouldn’t pass and it was the same just before at parents evening… in the end she did pass, we were over the moon.
On the last day her teacher approached me and said “the best thing you did for her was that tutor” and I couldn’t agree more.
Clare gave Georgia more than I could have asked for, self confidence, a renewed love for learning, fun, laughter and even a new friend. Once you welcome Clare into your home you’ll never want her to leave.
Clare is definitely our hero.

Clare is an excellent tutor, my daughter warmed to her right from the first session.  She has made sessions fun and interesting.  I am pleased I went with Clare.

My daughter was having real difficulty with her science, I mentioned to her that I would call Clare and see if she could help with her triple science subjects.
As soon as my daughters first lesson with Clare was over she became so much more confident in her lessons( her teachers words).
Olivia loved the quirky way Clare explained things she didnt understand in class.
I cannot express enough how good Clare is , she has an ability to keep children interested without that ” teacher tone” .  I have never heard my daughter laugh so much in a lesson and come out of it more confident.
